Although last night may have been a bit of a chuckle fest with jokes over text and on social media about how glad we all are that 2020 is finally over, I am not encouraged that 2021 will be an improvement.
I would like to think there will be less stupid this year, but I have a sneaking suspicion there will be many more lies coming from the mouths of our Governors, Senators, Reps and public health officials in the next few weeks.
More lies about “cases”, “metrics” and “The Surge” because naughty Americans didn’t obey and stay locked up in their homes over Christmas and New Years like good little children should.
There will be more lies about hospitals being overrun even though nurses still have time to make TikTok videos and pose for Instagram photos in their PPE.
More lies about the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and that any reactions to it are just the delusions of conspiracy theorists and “anti-vaxxer” nutcases.
There will be more lies that doctors and nurses who speak out about the false reporting of COVID-19 deaths or dirty data or questionable PCR testing or the fact that there are very good outpatient treatments for the illness are just quacks or disgruntled or insane.
More lies that remote learning is good and schools are still dangerous and teachers and college professors shouldn't come back to work and do their jobs properly. Students will keep dropping out and disappearing, but who cares as long as the unions get what they want?
There will be more lies that things are going to get better after January 20th so long as we keep wearing our face diapers and stay away from other human beings and we let a dirty old man and a trashy opportunist be sworn in to the highest offices in the land.
Yeah, 2021 is going to stink, too.
